We affirm our unwavering commitment to recognizing that we live, work, and gather on the unceded territory of the syilx Okanagan people, whose stewardship of this land extends back to time immemorial. We honour our syilx colleagues, friends, and neighbours, acknowledging their enduring relationship with this territory and the ongoing presence and contributions of their Nations.
As a diverse and engaged group of scholars, we are dedicated to researching critical and relevant social issues that impact our communities locally, nationally, and internationally. We strive to foster respectful relationships, deepen our understanding of the land’s history, and contribute meaningfully to reconciliation and social justice through our scholarship and actions. Through our work we see how violence manifests– from structural racism to genocide– and we affirm here our commitment to producing scholarship and providing education that helps to build more equitable and just worlds. Doing so is central to our professional obligations.
